A 'deep dive' series into lithium battery types for mobility and home-energy solutions

Nothing like ‘grand schemes’ to spark a whole thread!

Something I feel is ‘ready’ for a revisit and in-need of a deeper look is the various types and functions of batteries out on the market. LFP, NMC, LTO, LCO… and those are JUST the common lithium offerings! Where do they exceed; where do they fail. Do other chemistries hold up to them in certain applications?

While I am partial to both micro-modal (ebike and escooter) applications, I’d love to see a DIY/roll-your-own solution and thorough analysis of pro’s and con’s.

  1. BMS-solutions
  2. Safe usage and ‘risk control’
  3. Common as well as “alternative” methods to build packs/ total systems
  4. Where to source affordable parts/materials for general hobbyist/DIY’er.

Interesting idea, and might be a good follow up to the current WIP, which I will finish before March is over… I hope.
