UART, I2C, CAN, RS232/485, SPI - What are they and how can you work with them?

Another fairly ‘broad’ “series” idea of mine - A detailed look into each type of communication method. What are they, and why should we care.

  1. A “from the top” look at the protocols and communications.
  2. Where can they be found?
  3. What do they “do”?
  4. How do we leverage them and make use of them for hobbyists/DIY’ers.

I actually have this one planned, though I was going to spend most of my time bashing Z-Wave and Zigbee. I definitely have room for talking serial and might even throw in some LoRa.

lol, nice! If I may offer this ‘pivot’ or side-thought. Point at where the various Z-techs fell short. What they do well, and where they mis-stepped. Look at Sidewalk and Lora too perhaps. Tho, that whole thing may be its own ‘piece’ entirely.

LoRa will likely be its own thing, for sure. I’d like to get some other input on that as well, but that’s all hush hush, super secret spy stuff.
